New Good Song: "I Want You To Know," Alyson Stoner & MAX 3.11.15

Here's a new good song: "I Want You To Know" by Alyson Stoner & MAX, a cover of a song by Zedd f/ Selena Gomez, which you can hear here. I purchased and consumed this lovely, rich piano ballad prior to realizing that Alyson Stoner is that little girl dancer with the ponytails from the Missy Elliott videos. I'll be. Anyway, this is lovely. Enjoy.

New Good Song: "Thumbalina," Coleman Hell 3.11.15

Here's a new good song: "Thumbalina" by Coleman Hell. A tiny bit jarring at first, but undeniably catchy. Awesome bridge. Neat lyrical content. Enjoy.

New Good Song: "Steps," Handsome Ghost 3.11.15

New Good Song: "Still," The Japanese House 3.11.15

Here's a new good song: "Still" By The Japanese House. An electronic ballad with digital vocal treatments that create cool harmonies. I hear influences of Imogen Heap and Lany. Enjoy.

New Good Song: "Talking Body," Tove Lo 3.9.15

Here's a new good song: "Talking Body" by Tove Lo. She had the 7th best song of 2013, "Habits," which became a mainstream U.S. hit about a year and a half after a friend of mine first told me about it. She had a decent follow-up to that song called "Not On Drugs," but frankly that was over-doing the whole drug theme. Here she moves from drugs to sex. Versatility. Enjoy!

New Good Song: "On The Brightside," Never Shout Never 3.9.15

Here's a new good song: "On The Brightside" by Never Shout Never, although actually it's a remake of a six-year-old song. You can hear the 2009 version, which is not as good, here. This new 2015 version, which was the first time I had heard the song, has a haunting and beautiful orchestral counter-melody, especially in the outro. A huge improvement -- adds gravity and interest to a cute folksy song. Enjoy!

New Good Song: "Honest Affection (Remix B)," Kye Kye 3.9.15

Here's a new good song: "Honest Affection (Remix B)" by Kye Kye. The original "Honest Affection" was the 31st best new good song of 2013. (Listen to that song here. See the list of the 100 best new good songs of 2013 here.) Anyway, I normally wouldn't bother to include a remix, but this is a pretty incredible re-imagining of a song that was already incredible to begin with.

A side note: Each year I post a list of the best new good songs of the year, in my opinion. Here's the 2014 list. Here's the 2012 list. Anyway, as time passes, it becomes clear that some songs hold up better than others -- some get even better with age, while others fade out. Despite this, I don't revise my year-end lists. But I will say that "Honest Affection," at #31 for 2013, is, in my March 2015 view, better than some of the songs that out-ranked in. It holds up very well and probably deserved a higher spot on that year's year-end list. Especially considering that "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke was #30. My opinion has changed.

New Good Song: "Take The Long Way," Pat McGee 3.9.15

New Good Song: "Love Like Mine," Miami Horror f/ Cleopold 3.9.15

Here's a new good song: "Love Like Mine" by Miami Horror f/ Cleopold. '80s.

New Good Song: "Mystery," Boxed In 3.9.15

Here's a new good song: "Mystery" by Boxed In. Peppy alt-pop ditty.

New Good Song: "Black Sun," Death Cab for Cutie 3.9.15

Here's a new good song: "Black Sun" by Death Cab for Cutie. This band brought us a new good song in 2005 called "Soul Meets Body." Listen to here. Now 10 years later, here's another one. The lead singer, Ben Gibbard, was married to Zooey Daschanel from 2009-2012. Enjoy!
